1. What is Atopy Clinic?

Atopy is a term with the meaning of "strange" or "out of place", and refers to cases that allergy occurs because of food, and inhalative materials. Atopic dermatitis is a type of eczema and appears widely from infancy to early childhood, adolescent period, and adulthood. With severe itching symptom, it is a chronic recurring and eczematous disease with genetic predisposition, and the cause and pathogenesis mechanism is not known accurately. This clinic improves allergy constitution, and relieves symptoms through the most appropriate treatment of each, based on atopy's phased symptoms.?

2. Atopy's phased symptom features

1. Infancy atopy dermatitis : It starts with pruritus erythematic on a child who has been born for two to three months and two years. Lesion occurs easily on face and scalp, and shows acute phase aspect. Among erythema, minute blister occurs, and this bursts form wettability scab, and most of the time, the condition takes hydric form.

2. Early childhood atopy dermatitis : From two to ten years old, eczema and exudate occur relatively less but still, dry lesion occurs as a papular type. Typically appearing areas include elbows, popliteal space, wrists, eyelids, and neck surroundings. Symptoms are severe near earflap cracks and folded area.

3. Adolescent and adult atopy dermatitis: It appears as regional erythema, scale, papule, half vesicular type and half pruritus lichenification. The upper lip gets dry and even peeled off. Cracks occur due to cheilitis. It appears more regionally behind near neck, wrists, ankles, and knees. The papules are mostly dry and uplifted flat. All those papules eventually show signs of Lichenification as they are combined with each other.

4. Treatment at our hospital

1. Through SCORAD index and blood test (IgE, eosinophil count), degree of atopy dermatitis can be identified. 2. Figures out causes of disease by understanding main symptoms and diagnosing through pulse. 3. Based on the causes of the disease as well as the phased symptoms, proper acupuncture and oriental medicine are used for treatment. Also, external applications developed by our hospital (a body cleanser, a moisturizer and a toner that soothes itching) are used for curing the disease. 4. Helps a patient to change bad habits that would cause hypersensitive reactions while the hospital checks the patient's every aspect of life style such as diet, occupation, sleep, etc. This way, the hospital lowers the recurrence rate of the disease.
